Development and Implementation
Programs
Precision Camp
2019
I serve as the program director for Precision Inc., a subsidiary of Drumline Live, LLC. Precision Camp is a comprehensive music experience focused on developing marching, playing, and dancing techniques. I revamped the web page, manage correspondence with parents, campers, and clinicians as well as coordinate logistics for day to day.
Camp Best Friends
October 2008 - November 2017
Camp Best Friends has been in existence since 1981, as the Honorable Mayor Maynard Jackson's response to the City of Atlanta's outcry over the "Murdered and Missing Children" era. Under my leadership, the program has received two state awards (Most Innovative Programming - Swim & Tennis Camp / Teen Camp); incorporated "CBF Time" and an integrated reading curriculum; hired and trained over 200 young adults college seasonally and created over 12,000 memorable experiences. I really enjoy serving as the program director for this program, the largest summer camp program in the southeast region of the United States. It allowed me an opportunity to be creative and do things a little outside of the box. I also had to push myself to meet tight deadlines. I’m proud of the work I've done with this program and would love to discuss it with you in more detail.
#8DollarChallenge
November 2007 - Current
I took this on as a personal project to propel both my personal life and career forward. As a community advocate, It was something I'd always wanted to work on, and so I made a point of carving out time after work and on the weekends to make it happen. I’m still working hard on this project, as it has slowly become part of myself. Annually, I challenge all my friends and followers on my social media platforms to take $8 to their local dollar store and purchase 8 toiletry items varying from deodorant sticks, toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary items, chapstick, etc. To date I've received over $8000 worth of items that friends and I sort and prep for hygiene bags to donate at high homeless population areas and organizations that serve this population, such as the Covenant House of Atlanta.
ATLanta Teen Leaders
October 2008 - November 2017
Prior to my arrival to Out of School Time programming, the Teen Club for the City of Atlanta recreation centers did exist. I was challenged to re-model the current structure and I definitely took on the challenge. In the fall of 2012, I piloted the "NEW" Atlanta Teen Leaders program working with over 10 partnerships providing $100,000 worth of services for "FREE".
Play Mobile
August 2013 - May 2014
For one season, I worked as the unofficial Branding Manager for my department. Coincidently, the new director challenged me to create a program similar to that from the agency she came from. In partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, we launch the first ATL Parks & Rec Play Mobile.
The Play Mobile, also known as a recreation center on wheels, has traveled throughout Atlanta to access neighborhoods without static recreation centers and activate free play for all Atlanta youth.
The Play Mobile creates a safe, interactive and fresh air atmosphere that encourages children to go outside and play. For three hours, ATL Parks and Recreation “Fun Experts” guide free activities and games for children, including non-traditional sports, games, fitness demos, arts & crafts, oversized board games and much more.
Kids @ Play
Summer 2014 - Summer 2016 (Seasonal)
I created this program as a counselor - in - training initiative for my teen campers. Elementary school-aged children often gain weight over the summer due to a lack of structured, active, outdoor play. The purpose of Kids @ Play pilot was to get children “off the couch” and in parks. Children were engaged in physical activity for the purpose of combatting childhood obesity. The teen instructors also helped youth realize and experience low-cost outdoor recreation by re-introducing traditional games and forms of play.
ATL Prep
December 2013 - April 2014
I was tasked to create a program for young adults entering the workforce after graduation. The goal of the program was to inspire and support young adults in achieving self-sufficiency through real work experiences, academic opportunities, technical/
vocational training and professional mentoring. Once launched ATL Parks and Recreation Empowering Program (PREP) lasted for one year.
Recreation After School Program
October 2008 - August 2013
Kids don't want to leave school just to arrive in a school like environment. At the same token, supplemental help is sometimes needed and not made available to inner city families. The recreation after school programs I managed (13) provided youth with quality educational, recreational and cultural experiences. Youth would receive one - on - one tutorials or go online and log on to their Study Island / ALEKS accounts. Various vendors provide exposure to exploratory activities such as martial arts, gymnastics, debate or science exploration.
